“Wisdom is to have dreams big enough not to lose sight when we pursue them.”

“True creativity lies in the ability to see possibilities where others only see constraints.”

DNA

Atelier Ferret Architectures
is an architecture, urban planning, and design firm with international recognition, known for its iconic projects. Specializing in large public sports and cultural facilities, as well as the restoration of heritage buildings, the firm embodies a bold and context-driven vision of architecture.

At the heart of our approach is a creative space where the talents of a multicultural team converge, bringing together professionals from all five continents. This fruitful exchange nurtures a sustainable and resolutely contemporary architecture, designed to engage in dialogue with time and place. We firmly believe that every architectural and urban intervention finds its true relevance through attentive listening to its geographical, social, and historical context.

A building, a neighborhood, or a part of the city naturally fits into its territory when it emerges from a thorough analysis of its strengths, sometimes its genius, but also its flaws and constraints. Through our projects, we explore the memory of places: shared collective memory, cultural imprint, and traces of a history that still resonates.

Our ambition is to shape or redefine fragments of territory by seeking balance between solids and voids, forms and volumes, density and uses. This pursuit of harmony aims to create functional, sustainable, and resource-efficient spaces where durability and citizen well-being coexist. We are deeply convinced that user participation in the design of their living environment is essential to creating a sustainable and inclusive city.

For us, the contemporary city is based on an enlightened bioclimatic approach. This involves controlled orientation, generous natural light and ventilation, a rigorous selection of raw and local materials, and spatial flexibility designed for future uses. Our commitment also extends to the respect and enhancement of heritage, whether exceptional or ordinary, and to an active approach to reusing existing resources.

Pierre Ferret

Biography

« I have a motto when it comes to architecture; it’s not one I invented, but I’ve adopted it as my own: your dreams must be big enough so that you don’t lose sight of them while pursuing them. »

A graduate of the Bordeaux School of Architecture / Winner of the Grand Prix de Rome in 1976.

Pierre Ferret has become the architect of choice for the design and construction of sports facilities and stadiums, but his expertise is also highly sought after for architectural projects combining culture and sport.

In the face of a certain requirement for uniformity, imposed by the universal dimensions of sports fields and courts, Pierre Ferret’s work remains resolutely inventive and original, resulting in distinctive architectural creations firmly rooted in their cultural and spatial contexts.

Venezia Massie-Ferret

Biography

« As a lover of contemporary dance and the art of movement, I have always seen architecture as a way to give life to inanimate materials. The use of sustainable materials is a fundamental aspect of my architectural philosophy. »

Former high-level rhythmic gymnast and dancer at the Bordeaux Conservatory, Venezia Massie-Ferret has always been passionate about the Art of Movement. This passion led her, in 2007, to make it the focus of her thesis and architectural diploma project.

Through this work, she explored the freedom that spaces for Arts and Sports should provide, their role in promoting these disciplines to the public, and their location in city centers, directly connected to urban life. Her diploma project, titled “Architecture for Choreographic Freedom: Dance in the City,” was awarded the highest distinction by the jury.

After studying architecture at the National School of Architecture and Landscape in Bordeaux and the Polytechnic University of Valencia, with a focus on Bioclimatic Architecture, she worked for five years at the Paris-based LAN Architecture studio. In 2011, she joined Pierre Ferret at Atelier Ferret Architectures, which she has led since 2012.
