Gymnasium in Eysines
Eysines, France
Project contentProject description
Construction of a new gymnasium with 200 seats.
The creation of the gymnasium is part of a public facility project integrated into a broader urban planning strategy for the ZAC Carès Cantinolle area. Located at the entrance to the block and adjacent to a future school in the Cantinolle sector, the gymnasium is intended to contribute to the vibrancy of the neighborhood while also meeting the new needs created by the influx of new residents with the development of nearby housing units.
The gymnasium includes a reception hall with a large sheltered forecourt connected to the stands, a clubhouse, and a workshop. The sports area includes a 32x44m collective sports court, regulatory-sized fields (1 handball court, 1 basketball court, 1 volleyball court), and training areas (2 basketball courts, 10 badminton courts, 2 handball courts, 3 volleyball courts). There are 4 sports changing rooms, 2 referee changing rooms, and additional annexes.

Environmental Quality
In the face of increasingly frequent drought episodes, as well as the fact that the ZAC is located within a water catchment protection area, the issue of water management and the preservation of the water source is the primary concern that must be addressed first.
The design will also need to consider other key challenges, including bioclimatic design, energy and carbon efficiency, biodiversity, waste management, and the expected usability qualities.
