Project description

Extension of the Armand-Césari Stadium

The Bastia metropolitan community wanted a renovated stadium, integrated into the landscape, with the capacity to host performances.

The design work focused on achieving harmony between the architecture of the stadium and the natural, coastal, and hilly site. A textile membrane roofing system was chosen to meet the site’s specific characteristics, while also adhering to the functional requirements and climatological factors: shading of the pitch, resistance to seismic activity, and enhancing comfort. This roof restores coherence to the stadium, protecting it from the prevailing north-west winds, and gently receding to the east to provide spectators with a maritime horizon where the silhouettes of cypress trees stand out Mediterranean symbols of ancient sports and vigilant guardians of the site’s memory.
