Project contentProject description
Renovation, complete restructuring of an apartment, and furniture design.
We undertook a complete renovation of the apartment (plasterwork, electricity, plumbing, kitchen, bathroom, closets, etc.). The creation of a second bedroom was made possible by utilizing the space previously occupied by the old kitchen and moving a partition. We created an open space combining the living area and the open kitchen by removing the partition that separated the former living room and dining room.
The bathroom was created in place of the former dressing room. We designed large closets/dressings in both bedrooms. We also designed the kitchen, library, vanity unit, and closets.
For this project, we wanted to respect and restore all the period elements present in the apartment (18th-century building) according to traditional techniques: herringbone parquet flooring in the living room, English-style parquet in the rest of the apartment, stucco cornices in the living room and large bedroom, wooden interior joinery (windows) with lamb’s tongue and wolf’s mouth profiles, and paneled interior doors.
The design of the spaces, much more open to bring in light and fluidity, contrasts with the period elements. We aimed to transform the atmosphere of the apartment through the design of new, minimalist, and contemporary elements: lighting (integrated plaster spotlights in the ceilings), kitchen, library, bathroom, closets, and tiling in the WC and bathroom.
The overall atmosphere of the apartment is marked by a tone-on-tone palette of whites, beiges, and light wood, creating a very bright, clean, and airy ambiance.
