Inauguration of the Alice Milliat Gymnasium in Mérignac
Published on October 8, 2025
The gymnasium is a key facility in the neighborhood, designed in direct connection with the Rosa Bonheur school complex. This unifying project accommodates school activities, community sports, and high-level practice, notably hosting the Bordeaux Mérignac Volleyball Club.
The complex includes a large multisports hall with a fixed 250-seat stand and 750 seats on retractable bleachers, as well as an artificial climbing structure (ACS) of departmental level. An adjacent sports hall is dedicated to physical training, dance, and gymnastics, while a “club house” space overlooking the main hall promotes social interaction and community life.
An outdoor sports area connects with the schoolyard and features a rolling track, a basketball court, and a play wall with climbing section, creating a natural link between school activities and recreational sports.
Designed as a convergence space, the Alice Milliat Gymnasium brings together sports practices across the neighborhood and fosters connections among different users. Its open and welcoming architecture reflects Mérignac’s commitment to providing efficient, sustainable, and inclusive public sports facilities.
